Coming from a devised/physical theatre background, Johnny began writing plays while in college. While training he created two “performance masques” which sparked his interest for the creation of theatre. His training also included collaborating with various collectives, and working from improvisation or found text instead of writing original scripts. In 2014, during his commission for PRIDECAB at Buddies in Bad Times Theatre, he discovered his love for words and began writing plays producing alongside his theatre company Sisyphean Productions. Johnny later studied playwriting at George Brown College under the guidance of Kate Lushington, which is what really started his drive to continue writing.
Johnny is currently a playwriting teacher at the North York Senior Centre.
